So here's one design. 

The creatures have no tongue and produce little saliva, which helps them down the food they eat which is usually fish or rotting flesh off carcasses which they tear off and swallow whole. 

These species are a mammal like species that harbours thick downy fur from the base of their skull where it connects to the neck right down to past their shoulders and two sets of eyes.
